Gold Hill was founded in the early 1800's by miners looking to make it rich shortly after a large gold nugget was found.
The town's fathers bought and sold land, traded and homesteaded until the town is what it is today.

We recently (as of 2003) completed the final improvements to the Gold Hill Bike Path which were associated with a National Park Service grant. The new lookout is both scenic and practical ; providing a resting spot at the junction of the trail down to our City Beach Park. Please note that the “Brick Plaza” construction provides a smooth and level surface, making the area ADA compliant as well as accessible to roller blades, baby strollers, etc. |
